Malaga Cove School

I went to first grade here and I can still remember running with one of my classmates across the big field looking for four leaf clovers, hoping to find fairies hiding in the grass.

Malaga Cove School spreads across from the bluffs with a magnificent view of the ocean across the Santa Monica Bay.

Romayne Martin, one of the most influential women in the early years of the Palos Verdes Project, was the driving force in creating both the Palos Verdes Unified School District and the Palos Verdes Library District.

She was out on the site, shovel in hand, for the ground breaking and planting the first tree.  Malaga Cove School officially opened in 1926 with 35 students K through 8.  The building was awarded most notable architecture for a Southern California school in 1925-26
