Annie's Stand

This quaint roadside stand was a welcome one-stop for locals looking for delicious fresh fruits, vegetables, and fragrant flowers. I remember we would come at least every week for her extra large, sweet strawberries, green beans and flowers - blue Iris, daisies, Alstromaria.  Annie always added a little free sample to your purchase. On holidays, Easter Sunday and Valentine's Day especially, the parking area was jammed with last minute shoppers buying bouquets of flowers.

Annie's Stand was operated by Annie Ishibashi.  The Ishibashi family was one of the many original Japanese farmer families dry farming all over the Peninsula and in Portuguese Bend. Even with the moist climate, George Ishibashi drove a cart to Machado Lake near 5 points for water until irrigation was established.

     Annie's Stand closed in 2006.
